Dogs can puke and/or have diarrhea one day and then be fine the next. It's so hard to know when to call the vet. If they've been sick and not eating for more than 2 days or if they have a fever (over 103 for dogs, 103.5 for puppies) - call the vet! There are so many things these little cuties can get or get into!
Having a new puppy is a lot like having a toddler. You have to puppy proof the house and constantly pull things out of their mouths! Even the cutest dog toys can pose a huge risk to their health. Make sure to inspect toys after they have played with them and throw them away if they are getting too aggressive with them and pulling them apart. Socks? Some dogs favorite treat! Do not use a sock as a toy or tug of war tool. They love them. I'm lucky that our girl Sadie, brought them up whole after swallowing them. I say them because it happened multiple times! I had teenage boys at the time. "Pick up your socks!" was a phrase I used constantly. How on earth did that happen? Did she swallow it whole? It was disgusting and I'm thankful she out grew that stage.

Giardia - ever heard of it? Me neither until we had a dog get it, shortly after moving to our house on the lake. The culprit? I'm guessing, I'm not 100% sure but they like to eat goose poop. We put a stop to that by building a fence for the dogs far away from the lake.
Coccidia is similar to Giardia, but I have not dealt with it. Articles below on both of these intestinal illnesses. These might sound familiar to you if you bought a puppy from me. These are in my contract as not covered in the healthy puppy guarantee because it is not genetic and can happen when you get your puppy home. Another good reason to avoid dog parks, pet stores, etc
Puppy Strangles? That's a horrible name! This auto immune disorder is still not fully understood. It is not genetic and it is not contagious. Usually occurs in puppies 3 weeks to 6 months old but has been seen in dogs up to 4 years old. Common breeds affected - Golden Retrievers (so could also occur in goldendoodles) Daschunds, and Gordon Setters. First symptom normally is a puffy face, then pustules around the eyelids, mouth, accompanied by fever, lethargy and a limp. This is a painful autoimmune reaction but is easily treated with steroids and full recovery expected within 10-14 days.
